Holy Ground – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19.09.2026

Holy Ground is a place for prayer and Bible study, so much of what you write in it is deeply personal. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have, wherever in the world you live.

If anything here is unclear, contact us at info@holygroundapp.com.

1. Who is responsible for your data

The "controller" of your personal data is:

Holy Ground Limited ("Holy Ground", "we", "us")
[REGISTERED OFFICE / BUSINESS ADDRESS]
Company number: 17364277
[UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) registration number: [NUMBER]]
Privacy contact: info@holygroundapp.com

[EU / EEA REPRESENTATIVE, IF REQUIRED: our representative in the European Union is [NAME AND ADDRESS]. You can contact them about how we handle your data.]

2. Personal data we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address, and your name or display name if you give one. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the details they share with us.

  • Your Content: journal entries, prayers, notes, saved verses and reflections that you write or save in the App.

  • Support messages: anything you send us when you contact us.

Important: What you write in Holy Ground can reveal your religious beliefs. Many countries treat this as a special or sensitive category of personal data that needs extra protection. We treat all of Your Content that way.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and technical information: device type, operating system, app version, language, time zone, and crash and error logs.

  • Approximate location: your country or region, worked out from your IP address or app store settings. We do not collect your precise location.

  • Usage information: Which features you use and when, notification settings, and your consistency or streak information if the App shows it.

Subscription and payment information

  • We know whether you have a free trial or an active subscription, and the dates. Payment is handled by Apple / Google / Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

3. How we use your data, and our legal bases

Your consent for religious-belief content. Where the law requires your explicit consent to process content that reveals your religious beliefs, we ask for it before you start using the journal. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your content or your account. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide the journal to you.

4. What we do not do

  • We do not sell your personal data.

  • We do not use your journal entries or prayers for advertising, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles about you.

  • We do not read your journal entries except where strictly necessary to keep the service secure, fix a fault you have asked us to look into, or comply with the law.

5. Who we share your data with

We share personal data only with:

  • Service providers (processors) that help us run the App, under contracts that limit what they can do with your data. These include cloud hosting Bubble.io, analytics Bubble.io, email and notifications Bubble.io, and customer support toolsBubble.io.

  • App stores and payment providers (Apple, Google, or Stripe), who handle purchases and subscriptions under their own privacy policies.

  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers, accountants and insurers, where necessary.

  • Authorities and courts, where the law requires us to, or to protect rights, safety and security.

  • A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or reorganised. We would tell you, and any buyer would have to honour this policy.

6. Transfers of your data across borders

We are based in the United Kingdom, and our service providers may be located in other countries, including the United States. Your data may therefore be processed outside the country where you live.

When we transfer personal data out of the UK or the EU/EEA, we use approved safeguards, such as an adequacy decision (including the UK and EU data bridges with certified US providers), the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Contact us if you would like more information about these safeguards.

7. How long we keep your data

  • Account data and Your Content: for as long as your account is open.

  • When you delete Your Content or your account: we delete it from our live systems within [30] days, and from backups within [90] days. [CONFIRM AGAINST YOUR SYSTEMS]

  • Transaction and tax records: for as long as the law requires, usually [6] years. [CONFIRM]

  • Support messages: for [2] years after we close the enquiry. [CONFIRM]

You can delete your account inside the App at Profile → Delete Account.

8. Your rights

Everyone. You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, and stop using it in ways you object to. Contact info@holygroundapp.com.

UK and EU/EEA users. You have the right to: access your data; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict how we use it; receive a copy in a portable format; object to processing based on our legitimate interests; and withdraw consent at any time. We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

California and other US states. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; access and delete it; correct it; get a portable copy; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising; limit the use of sensitive personal information; and not be treated unfairly for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. The only sensitive personal information we handle is information that may reveal religious beliefs in Your Content, and we use it only to provide the App to you. Some states let you appeal a decision about your request; if we refuse a request, we will explain how. You can use an authorised agent to make a request for you.

Other countries. If you live in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Philippines, Nigeria, Brazil or elsewhere, you may have similar rights under your local data protection law, including the right to complain to your local regulator. Contact us and we will help you exercise them.

How to use your rights. Email info@holygroundapp.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We aim to reply within one month (and within 45 days for California requests), and we will tell you if we need longer. We do not charge a fee unless a request is clearly excessive.

9. Age limit

Holy Ground is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we learn we have collected data from someone under 16, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and think your child has given us data, please contact info@holygroundapp.com.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption while it is sent to and from the App [AND WHILE STORED, IF TRUE. CONFIRM BEFORE STATING], access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

11. Cookies and similar technologies

[IF YOU HAVE A WEBSITE OR USE ANALYTICS/ATTRIBUTION TOOLS IN THE APP:] Our website and App may use cookies, software development kits and similar technologies to keep things working, remember your settings and understand usage. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before using non-essential ones, and you can change your choice at any time in [LOCATION]. [LIST ANALYTICS/ATTRIBUTION TOOLS]

12. Links to other services

The App or our website may link to other sites and services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will tell you in the App or by email before they take effect, and where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent again. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
